Established in 1897, Notcutts Garden Centres have been in the family for more than 120 years. As one of the first purpose-built garden centres in the UK, it was Charles Notcutt and his team who helped to shape the garden centres of today – more of a place to spend a day out with the family, to relax and be inspired.
Charles Notcutt became the first Chairman of the Garden Centres Association in the mid-60s. He believed education and research would help horticulture to flourish and was among the founders of the Institute of Horticulture.
As the leader of a successful family business, Charles’ accomplishments were officially recognised in 1993 with an OBE for services to horticulture. In 1997, when Notcutts celebrated its centenary year, Charles was presented with one of the highest accolades in the business; the RHS Victoria Medal of Honour.
Automatic Access recently won a contract to service and maintain the Notcutts Garden Centre chain – from Woodbridge in Suffolk, to Pontefract in West Yorkshire and everywhere in between.
Some of the existing automatic doors have been installed for many years and Notcutts required an upgrade for safety reasons, with a programme of works for Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
We will be working with Notcutts Garden Centres at 17 sites across the UK for 1 year, with an option to continue our services over an extended period. Many of the garden centres include 4-6 automatic doors of swing and sliding types – these are also included for PPM of fire shutter and automatic roller shutters.
We are very proud and excited to be working with such a prestigious and highly respected company.
