Automatic Sliding Doors

Creating inviting, accessible entrances for organisations and commercial properties, automatic sliding doors are aesthetically pleasing and perfect for heavy use environments.

Providing a fully accessible entrance solution that meets the requirements of the Equality Act 2010 (incorporated the Disability Discrimination Act), they give an immediate impression of an established, professional and trustworthy establishment.

Popular in retail, healthcare, education and public buildings; sliding doors’ clear opening width makes them much easier to navigate for those using walking aids, wheelchairs, shopping trolleys, and delivery pallets, etc.

Automatic sliding door operators are usually fixed discretely above the opening or concealed within the ceiling, and require space to the side for ‘pocket screens’ so the door leaf (or leaves) can be safely stowed when open.

All Automatic Access’ sliding door systems are bespoke designed and manufactured in a wide range of styles and colours to match your branding, business needs and budget.

Upgrading Existing Doors

For existing installations that require upgrades, why not try our retrofit kits? Designed to fit within most manufacturer’s operators; rather than replacing the operator, we can simply change the damaged door or screen mechanism within the existing operator. This comes complete with our standard 12 month warranty, which can be extended to 2 years if serviced within 12 months.

By upgrading the system, disruption to the site aesthetics can be kept to a minimum as the existing back plate, cover, carriages, etc., will remain. As part of the package, safety and activation sensors are also upgraded – a cheaper alternative to a complete replacement.

Service, Maintenance & Repairs for Automatic Sliding Doors

Automatic Access offers pre-planned service and maintenance, as well as an emergency callout service for door repairs.

Regular system checks and maintenance must be documented and undertaken by a qualified engineer to ensure safe operation and to meet Workplace Health & Safety Machinery regulations. Powered automatic doors require at least one recorded service annually to ensure compliance with BS EN 16005.

FAQs

How will my automatic door be activated?

Typically, automatic doors are activated by sensors that detect personnel and objects within an adjustable range (automatic opening).

Alternatively, if you would prefer intentionally activated automatic opening, i.e. requiring action by the user, there are a variety of operations including push pads, access control systems, or Touch Free switches.  These contactless sensors operate with a hand motion, allowing the door to open automatically in a controlled, intentional way.

Will the automatic sliding door system use a lot of electricity?

Automatic Doors use minimal power to function and can help reduce energy and heat loss by ensuring your door is only opened when required and always returned to its fully closed position.

Our experience in maintaining door systems enables us to only select products that are reliable and built to last, maximising your investment from a longevity and cost perspective.

Are automatic sliding door operators suitable for fire doors?

Automatic sliding doors that comply with BS EN 16005 must have an emergency battery backup incorporated into the system. This means they can continue working even in the event of mains power failure.

They can also be connected to the fire alarm to open once it is activated. It is possible to programme them to stay shut, either for smoke control or if the door in an open position contributes to oxygen fuelling the fire. The sliding door can remain open or closed – whichever is required for safety reasons.

There are various fire and smoke control options for automatic doors. To help maximise fire safety in your premises, please contact us for further information on our automatic doors.
