Automatic Door Service & Repairs

Comprehensive Service & Repair plans tailored to your building needs to ensure compliance.

If your building has automatic doors, you have a legal responsibility to ensure they have an annual documented service check to prove they are working correctly and remain safe to building users.

Routine service visits are an essential requirement for automatic pedestrian doors to demonstrate they comply with Workplace Health and Safety legislation and British Standards relating to the specific type of powered door.

A typical commercial automatic door system requires at least at least one recorded service annually to ensure compliance with BS EN 16005:2023 Power operated pedestrian doorsets. Safety in use. Requirements and test methods.

Like most electrical machinery with moving parts, automatic or powered doors need a Service Log to prove they are regularly checked under Health and Safety legislation and BS EN 16005 which applies to the installation and careful maintenance of automatic pedestrian doors, their sensors and safety devices.

Any checks and maintenance on your powered automatic door systems must be documented and undertaken by a qualified person.

Automatic Access can advise on the frequency and program of maintenance required for your type of automatic door ensuring you meet your responsibilities as building occupier.  Handover documents from your door installer, or the manufacturer’s manual will also outline the frequency and program of maintenance required.

In addition to a planned maintenance program, it is recommended that the person responsible (building occupier) for the safe operation of the automatic doors, makes regular safety inspections of the complete door system.  Records of these safety checks should be retained for at least a year.
